Three ways to do it
What people usually want
These are the three we do most weeks. If yours is not on the list, ask anyway — the answer is normally yes.
The back table
- Held for two hours
- Order off the normal menu
- Pots of tea and coffee brought over
- One bill or split, your call
- Book breakfast, lunch or afternoon
Platters & buffets
- Sandwiches on our own bread
- Sausage rolls and quiche
- Crisps, slaw and a green thing
- Two cakes, cut and boxed
- Delivered in Alderton, or collect
Cake for an occasion
- Any of Jean’s, scaled up
- Writing on top, no extra charge
- Gluten free with a week’s notice
- Boxed, ready to travel
- Five days’ notice, ideally
The practical bit
What we can actually fit
Nobody puts this on a website and everybody rings up to ask, so here it is.
Exclusive hire
We shut the doors and the place is yours. Evenings from 5pm, or all day Sunday. £180 for the room, then food and drink on top at normal menu prices.
People use it for wakes, christenings, birthdays, and once for a very small wedding reception. Fifty standing, thirty-four sitting, and the coffee machine stays on.
There is no music system, which most people count as a feature. Bring a speaker if you want one.
Enquire
Tell us what you need
Rough numbers are fine. We answer these ourselves between orders, so you will hear back the same day — and if it is urgent, ring instead, we are quicker on the phone.
Bookings & everything else
Get in touch
You never need to book for one or two — there is nearly always something free. Booking helps for four or more, and for anything at the weekend.
Book a table
Pick a time, then tell us who you are. Tables are held for fifteen minutes past the booking.
Or just ring
Honestly, this is faster. Someone is always by the till and we would rather talk to you than read an email.
Emails get answered the same day, usually in the afternoon lull. If it is about a booking for tomorrow, ring rather than email — we do not want you turning up to a full room because nobody checked the inbox.
Lost something? Ring. The lost property drawer is deep and mostly gloves.
