The place
Foundry Row, most mornings

What we do
Three things, done properly
We are not trying to be a restaurant. We do coffee, we do cake, and we do a breakfast that will see you through until two.
Coffee
Roasted forty minutes up the road and pulled on a machine we actually service. Filter is bottomless before ten. Oat and soya cost the same as cow, because charging extra for that is daft.
Cake
Made here, badly labelled, and far too big. Jean does the baking and takes requests. There is usually something gluten-free — ask, do not guess.
Breakfast
Until 11.30, then lunch until we run out. Bacon baps, eggs on toast, beans with proper cheese. Nothing on it comes with a foam.
The back table
Room for ten, if you ask
There is a long table at the back that seats ten comfortably and twelve at a squeeze. We hold it for groups, book clubs, breakfast meetings and the walking lot on a Thursday.
We also do catering — platters, cake for an office, buffets for a christening or a wake. It is the same food, just more of it and on a bigger plate.
This week
Everyone welcome at all of them. You do not need to know anybody.
Sit as long as you like.
Nobody is counting.
Open seven days on the corner of Foundry Row since 2016.
What people say
Reviews, pulled from Google
“Best flat white in Alderton and the cake slices are ridiculous. The big table at the back has basically become our book club HQ.”
“Went in out of the rain, stayed two hours, nobody minded. They put the heating up when I asked. Proper caff.”
“Oat milk same price as normal, which more places should do. Breakfast until half eleven is a lifesaver at weekends.”
